Both of these music videos are essentially attempting to accomplish the same thing: uplifting the Black community. Believe it or not, “Read a Book” was actually written by and for Black Americans, proving once and for all that they see the same decadence and degeneracy that we see. It’s brutal, no doubt, holding its own against the most angry White Supremacist tirades.
The Shocking Truth
It raises an important question about the appropriate tone to use when trying to reach our own people. Should we, as some assert, use shock therapy? Should we, as Jamie Kelso asserts, always be positive? I keep falling back on analogizing our lost White American brothers and sisters to drug-addicted brothers or sisters. In both cases, I believe the ideal voice is one that balances empathy and hope with brutal honesty. To dissimulate or distract from the truth is to enable, but bitter truths can be framed in an aspirational context.
For this reason, I believe that Nas’s video strikes an excellent balance. It frankly addresses problems in the Black community, directing the youth to emulate worthy role models, embrace traditional roles, and take pride in their heritage. Can’t we create something like this? Even the risible Afrocentrist garbage seems excusable in context. What people don’t exaggerate their place in history? Just one: Whites.
I believe the most effective way to reach people is through art. I know from years of trial-and-error that the truth is far from enough. It has its place, but normal people are more driven by their instincts and emotions than with bell curves, research papers, and logical appeals. People aren’t content to be merely correct – they want to be right. This is where creative expression can prove especially powerful.
Surprisingly, I didn’t have a breakthrough with one target I had been working on for years until I showed her the music video Roots, by Show of Hands. If I had even the slightest spark of artistic talent, I would probably be using it instead of blogging and community organizing. I don’t, so I can only hope that other people out there who do have these gifts will step up and exploit this opportunity of a lifetime to lead a nation back to her roots.

I’ve been slowly germinating an idea about the ultimate cause of the fundamental problems facing white people, and the conclusion which is emerging suggests that it’s similar to the ultimate cause of the fundamental problems facing black people.
Just out of curiosity, if you had to name a single ultimate cause of the challenges facing black people, what would you choose?
That they have been forced by circumstance to try to live according to white western civilization ideals. It is all right to be black, and to live in Africa in their traditional way without interference from any other race or tribe. Any problems they experience are their own to deal with in their own unique manner and no one else’s business.
Blacks are bestowed with a suite of characteristics that are maladaptive in a mature civilization. So are Whites, actually. Jews (refugees from a managerial caste of a long-dead civilization) and East Asians are both culturally and genetically selected for a suite of traits that are adaptive in this stage of civilization.
Additionally, both White Americans and Black Americans are suffering from the consequences of having their natural elite methodically plucked from their communities and drawn into the multiracial, multinational rootless cosmopolitan caste of global overlords. Optimally, this would occur within the same race/nation, as was the case in India and China. In that case, you end up with a Brahman/Mandarin caste of overlords with at least a modicum of noblesse oblige. In our context, the smart ones are blowing off the White American folk/nation and never looking back.

My emerging thoughts on the matter are somewhat similar to Spengler’s, and related to Stronza’s and Matt’s, though I’ll admit that both of yours are probably more refined than mine.
What jumps out at me as the ultimate cause of the most serious challenges facing blacks in America today is the dissolution of the nuclear family.
With whites, the primary problem appears to stem from dissolution of the extended family. In thinking about the hierarchy of social constructions, I considered the following model: individual -> nuclear family -> extended family -> clan / tribe -> race, with each unit naturally being an integral part of the one above.
In transitioning away from the extended family, we’ve perhaps lost the intimate daily experience of shared commitments and responsibilities. If large populations of people lack this within their own families, how can they be expected to have the capacity to experience a similar sense of innate brotherhood and committed destiny within their tribe or race?
This thought suggests the conclusion that racial loyalty first requires extended family loyalty at a broad societal scale. I’m possibly just stating the obvious here.
In heralding the triumph of the modern nuclear family, whites have ceased participating as integral building blocks of a larger social construction and have evolved to become like independent agents, free of all filial constraints, untethered from any responsibilities other than to maximize one’s own pleasures and successes.
I’d hazard a guess that most whites as babies have had diapers changed by older family members, but how many have returned the favor for their elderly relatives? As a society, we’ve outsourced the care of our old folks to others, as a gain to convenience but a loss to something even more fundamental, and dare I say sacred.
I’m starting to think that the road to ethnic cohesion begins with the wiping of elderly asses. Otherwise, racial nationalism for most people might never develop beyond an intellectual exercise, or one rooted merely in fear or anger.

Very eloquently stated. I’m afraid I’ve had to learn to agree with your last sentence the hard way.
I couldn’t agree more with your assessment, but have pushed a little further down the chain of causation. Why have our families fallen apart? Why have our community leaders allowed our communities to disintegrate into amorphous puddles of autonomous nuclear families and broken families? Other populations are surviving, even thriving, against the challenges we’re beset with in Modernity.
Why do you think our extended families fell apart and what do you think can be done about it?And by whom?
We need a great comedian. A Bill Hicks for white people. And not a few good ones.

Perhaps extended families are a natural casualty of expanding personal wealth, increased economic freedom, population mobility, and smaller family sizes. If you’ve ever lived in a place with a large number of recent transplants, you’ve likely observed and felt a particular lack of intrinsic culture, social order, and cohesiveness.
As for what can be done about it, I’m not sure outside of the horizon of the values one instills in their own children. Some religious institutions directly or tangentially promote extended-family cohesiveness as part of “family values” special interest organizations / media groups / political lobbying, but I’m at a loss to suggest ways that one might similarly impact the secular sphere.

I don’t think secular political action in and of itself can rescue the family…nuclear or national. The political work I’m doing is necessary, but insufficient. Hence the site’s title: Tribalism, Traditionalism, and Transcendence. I intend to use this blog to explore some of my thoughts on the latter two categories.

I also find myself agreeing with Randy Garver’s comments about the decline in White extended families and lack of caring for our elders. A grandfather of mine in Ireland was mainly being looked after by Filipino nurses in his final years.
That’s the state of the White West in the 21st Century. Godless and cut off from our best traditions.
Randy, it is normal for a baby to need his bum wiped. It is abnormal for people to get decrepit to the point that they are lying in bed like babies being wiped by others. My old mother never had to have this done, nor my father. Not even my 95-year old grandmother. We have to learn to improve and keep our health instead of just thinking that somebody is going to wipe our rear some day.
White people are the sickest on earth and that is why we are fodder for everybody. We are food for hyenas & maggots because our degeneracy can’t be dealt with by the universe any other way. If we expect to have the kind of nation we want, it starts with good health.

That’s an incredibly absurd, arrogant, and insensitive remark. I’m not even sure where to start. Good health starts with good mental health.
Mental/physical health is one thing. Like an omelet, it can’t be unscrambled.

Didn’t American Blacks do better in many ways under Jim Crow and particularly before the massive welfare state enacted under the Roosevelt and Johnson presidencies? I’ve read of them having flourishing trade, business sectors, their own insurance companies and bank and culture (obviously superior to the rot they produce now) — Harlem in the 30s comes to mind. Some might have hated white people but I get the sense that they respected them (and vice versa) more then. Welfare, particularly when it pays more the more children, sets the government up as an ersatz father and is extremely dysgenic, the dysgenic impact falling more on blacks due to their general behavioural and temperamental characteristics. Also, the same general cultural, aesthetic and moral degeneracy of the entire Western world since WWII has perhaps affected blacks worse. Look how the Motown artists used to dress and carry themselves.

By the nature of God, I mean that nature as defined in the two roles/genders, which are the essence of god.
The white man is meant to be the “head” race. This is why there is such a focus of negative hatred toward him in this present day. The negative focus, being envy and it’s many offshoots, are actually the negative side of “expectation of leadership” from the aspect of the dark skinned ones, but they don’t know it, and neither do most whites.
